We were raised to believe that if we worked hard, played by the rules, and took a little risk - prosperity would follow. While traditional workers were offered 401(k) plans and guaranteed pensions, we invested our life savings into a small business of providing housing. Our California Dream was about saving for our retirement, our long-term health care, and our children’s college tuition.
It was not just an investment in our financial future, it was an investment in our community to provide quality housing. But, our dreams, our future are bleak and our government officials seem to not care about what we think.
